Creativity Matters
Creativity is expressing yourself through a medium, whether it is art, painting, or cooking or anything. Creativity is all around us, in every profession; dress designing, landscaping, advertising, movie making.... If there was no creativity we wouldn’t have had such great maestros like Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Einstein etc. Well, no two individuals are alike and nor they can think alike, rather they can be unique in their own way. If you need to succeed in any field, you need to have a blend of both knowledge and creativity.

Creativity can help you land  in a good job and even help you perform your job better, eg. for a lawyer, creativity helps in throwing light in a different direction, for a fashion designer, it helps one keep up-to-date with the trend..... writing books, designing toys for children, whatever you do.... that's something which can help any person in any job.

Creativity is what makes us unique.... Wendy's has a square shape burger and Burger King has round patties; every company has their own special style and trade mark, which comes from someone's creativity; it can be easily distinguished from others, it stands out with its uniqueness. Imagine if there is no creativity in this world....everything would come to a total halt. Creativity is not just about inventing, it has more to do with being unique, being natural, being yourself. Where does creativity comes from? Creativity comes naturally, out of curiosity, and, a bit of imagination. Sometimes it can come from the smallest thing; it can spark the biggest ideas. It could become the most rewarding and fulfilling experience; your creativity can even become a trendsetter.

How to get those ideas coming...
Brainstorm your ideas and throw your ideas in all directions. Sometimes you need to break the rules and think differently, think out of the box, think 100 different ways to do it, think about substitutes, think about what works and what doesn't. Some hit, some don't; some are far off the target. Thomas Alva Edison invented the first electric bulb after trying 1000 different things which didn't work. He experimented with thousands of different filaments to find just the right materials to glow well and last longer. Thereafter, by changing the shape of the filament to a horseshoe it burned for over 100 hours; figure out what works best and do not stop there, think for ways to improvise it...

How can you put your creativity into cooking?
You can use endless amount of creativity in cooking. If there is no creativity in chefs, there won't be any new recipes. These days a lot of fusion cooking methods are appearing and appealing to every palette. You can use a lot of creativity in cooking by combining the ingredients, using various combinations, substituting ingredients, decorating food, paying attention to every detail in presenting food etc. A good chef doesn't need enormous amounts of ingredients to make a great dish; he should be able to create a wonderful dish with whatever is instantly available.

Here is a tip you can use to be creative in your cooking.
Sometimes you end up having nothing at all at home and some guests have arrived. Make a mental note of ingredients available. Think what you can create with it. Think of the substitutes you can use. You will be surprised as to what you came up with. Create your own or take a recipe from the web... it’s upto you. When you cook personalize it a bit with your own style. Add more of an ingredient you like or less of something you don't like. Try substituting one ingredient for another, and there you go! You are on your way to being creative.

Another word for creativity is Artistic. When you are on a cake decorating project for your kid's birthday, or taking a big batch of a special dish to a potluck dinner or creating a special dish for that special someone, you need to....
1.Identify what you want to work on at the moment.
2.Estimate how much time it will take, what all things you require.
3..Assemble everything you need in order.
4.Dedicate yourself to that one thing and nothing else. Don't let your mind wander.
5.Focus your energy, concentration, intensity and creativity on the task.

My friends know my cooking style and can easily identify dishes I have prepared, even when placed among other items. Use your creativity and make your own signature style, and you will be amazed by the wonders you just created!

Happy cooking!
