Raita

Raita is a cooling side dish made with yogurt. Raita is excellent with Biryani or any spicy food, as it balances out the spiciness. It has all the ingredients of a salad, in addition to yogurt.


Yogurt health benefits:
Yogurt contains active and living Bacteria ( good bacteria). The bacterial cultures are composed of living micro-organisms which are responsible for many health and nutritional benefits. In other words, active live bacteria is called Probiotics.Yogurt is an excellent source of protein, calcium, riboflavin and vitamin B12. Because of the high content of calcium in yogurt, it's good for people with Osteoporosis/ boneloss.The other benefits of live and active cultures are, it  help boost the immune system; encourage the good bacteria to multiply in the gut. These bacteria help digest food and prevent stomach infections. Yogurt is a healthy way to get the calcium the body needs.

Raita
Ingredients:
Yogurt - 1 cup
Tomatoes - 1 chopped
Onion - 1/2 chopped
Green chillies - 1 chopped
Coriander - 1 tsp finely chopped
Cucumber - 1/4 grated
salt to taste

Method:
Mix all the above ingredients in a bowl and serve chilled
