Women and Nutrition

As soon as you wake up in the morning, you gear up to multi task.... Get set, go.... make breakfast , wake the kids, set out school clothes, feed them breakfast, pack their lunch, drive them to school , do grocery shopping, laundry, mopping, vacuumming, iron clothes, help the kids with home work, fix dinner, clean the kitchen, run the dish washer, bathe the kids, put the kids to bed....Oh gosh what a day!

If you are a working woman. you have the additional task of going to work and the level of stress is double. Life gets even tougher as you climb up the promotion ladder, be it as a wife, mother, a career woman. All your family members need your time, love and attention. The man in your life expects you to be a punctual career woman, faultless housekeeper, flawless looking beauty, all rolled into a perfect woman. Life is so hectic and demanding.

Imagine you're late for work, you skip a meal; your lunch consists of a nutritional bar and a sugar filled drink. You start getting headaches at work and you drink coffee several times a day, to beat that headache. By the end of the day, you feel too tired and dinner seems like too much trouble to bother with. Does this sound like you? If so, it means you need to revisit your eating habits...this kind of lifestyle just won't do. Your health is vital; remind yourself that good nutrition is all you need.

Take some extra time for yourself; have a complete protein-rich breakfast to fuel your body, to get ready to face the day. Pack some dry fruits and nuts and nibble on that for a snack. Cut up some fresh vegetables like carrot, cucumber, broccoli and have these during breaks . Have yogurt cups ready by your desk side; always carry fresh whole fruits in your bag like bananas, apples, oranges, pears, etc., and have plenty of water. These power packed foods will raise your resistance to stress and keep you healthy.

The inspiration to write this article comes from my sister, who passed away in a tragic accident. No doubt, she was a super woman. The people who were most effected, after she left for her heavenly abode, were her immediate family members; her hub, son and unmarried daughter. Remember that you are the important member of the family and if you are healthy, your entire family is going to be healthy and happy.

Do you need to take additional calories for all the work that you do? Certainly not! women are equipped to multi-task. Proper nutrition will help you to work, to the fullest potential. The small changes you make in your eating habits will transform your health and well being. Sometimes, it is easier said than done; but remember, it's like you are investing in your long term health.

Happy cooking!!!
