Spaghetti with meatballs

This classic Italian dish is sure to steal the heart of your younger cooking fans.  I normally make mini meatballs just the size of blue grapes, when serving the little kids.

Ingredients:For Meatballs

Ground beef - 1 lb
Bread crumbs- 2 tbsp
Egg - 1
Parmesan cheese - 1tbsp freshly ground
Salt
Black pepper -1/2 tsp freshly ground
Minced garlic - 1/2 tsp
Parsley- 1/2 tsp fresh or dried.

for Sauce
Onion - 1/2 cup chopped
Olive oil - 1 tbsp
Whole tomatoes -   1 can ,14 oz crushed
Tomato paste - 6 oz
Basil fresh or dried - 1/2 tsp
Sugar - 1/2 tsp
Garlic cloves - 2 minced
Oregano - 1/4 tsp
Parmesan cheese - 2 tbsp freshly grated.
Spagetti - cooked as per the directions on the pack.

Method:
Mix together all meatball ingredients in a bowl, form into balls 1 1/2" wide.

Deep fry the meat balls just enough to  get light brown colour on the outside, to lock in the juices or Bake on cookie sheet at 375F for 25 minutes for healthier version.

Saute onions in olive oil over a medium heat. Stir in remaining sauce ingredients and allow it to cook for 5 mins. Add the finished meatballs into the sauce and simmer for 20 minutes.

Start cooking spaghetti as per the instructions on the packet.

Stir the cheese into the sauce and meatballs, and serve over the cooked spaghetti. If you are serving the kids, mix the sauce in the spagetti and sprinkle some grated  cheese or powdered parmesan cheese on top, it makes it easier for them to eat.
